Whether you’re seeking local Hawaiian cuisine, live music, fresh seafood, or international gourmet, our selection promises to enhance your stay with unforgettable dining moments.
La Spezia
First on the list is the wonderful Italian restaurant located in the heart of Koloa town. Guests who dine here have raved about the flavorful and delicious entrees such as the Fettucini Calabrese and the Fresco di Mare. The food here is made with care, and the portion sizes are more than generous. If you find yourself on the Garden Isle be sure to make a reservation.

Duke’s Kauai
Although not located in Poipu, we couldn’t help but recommend driving to Lihue to enjoy this iconic restaurant. Duke’s Kauai is located inside the Marriott’s Kauai Beach Club and is named after the historic surfing legend. If you get a table inside it will be outstanding, since you’ll see an indoor waterfall embedded into the mountain scenery. If you dine outside, you will get a better view of Nawiliwili Bay and even get a chance to see some surfers and paddleboarders. Duke’s location and atmosphere are often mentioned by guests who dine there. Try the Volcano drink on a date night, hopefully at a time when they have a live band.

Kenji Burger
If you want a 5/5 burger then pay Kenji a visit in Koloa town. Evidently, they are doing something right as they have four different locations on the island! They are known for fast and friendly service with very flavorful options. Our favorite item is the Misoyaki Cod sandwich because of its rich flavors and amazing taste. When you’re there be sure to visit Poipu365 in the back and check out some of our vacation rental brochures!

Bangkok Happy Bowl
This Thai bistro is the spot for sushi when you’re visiting Poipu. It is located in the Poipu Shopping Village and has ample parking. Guests who dine there rave about the Poke Bowl, Thai Fried Rice, Pad Ka-pow, and their strong Mai Tais. Don’t miss their happy hour specials in this fantastic atmosphere of Poipu.

Keoki’s Paradise
This gem of Poipu is celebrated for its open-air dining, tropical surroundings, and live Hula performances, making it a popular spot on Kauai’s south side. Be sure to witness a live Hula performance and try the Lobster Risotto which will knock your socks off. Their reviews often mention the garden area seating where guests can enjoy Pacific breezes while dining in Poipu. It is the ideal choice if you want to have a great family dinner.

Eating House 1849
Roy Yamaguchi brings his legendary blend of fresh, local ingredients and Asian-inspired flavors to this unique dining spot. The restaurant, located in the Shops at Kukuiula, offers dinner daily and emphasizes carryout options, including pre-order holiday packs for those special occasions. We have heard whispers of their Pineapple Upside Down Cake but have yet to try it. If you go there and order it, please let us know in the comments below!

The Tasting Room
The tasting room is a family-owned rustic restaurant that offers spectacular dining options in an accommodating atmosphere. They have an extensive wine and bourbon selection and a knowledgeable server team who can answer most, if not all of your questions. You can never go wrong with the Pesto Broiled Mahi Mahi with angel hair pasta or the Chicken Marbella.

The Beach House
Last but certainly not least is The Beach House Restaurant. This highly-rated restaurant is located right next to Lawa’i Beach. If you’re lucky enough to get there around sunset, it is one of the best that you’ll ever see. When you’re here you’ll feel right at home with attentive service and an unmatched atmosphere. The Beach House is a restaurant we recommend if you are celebrating an anniversary or choosing to honeymoon in Kauai.

Koloa Fish Market
If you love seafood, don’t miss the Koloa Fish Market for a genuine treat. Poke Bowl enthusiasts will be delighted here, guaranteed. Thanks to their quick service and attentive team, you’ll find the line moves swiftly. Many guests staying with us say it’s the “Best Poke we’ve ever had.” While it’s not a sit-down eatery, it’s a top pick for grabbing something delicious to go.

Lava’s on Poipu Beach
This is the go-to spot for those looking for a healthy breakfast or a light lunch. Here you will get beautiful views of the beach whether you dine in the day or in the evening. When it’s time for a nice dinner or a family get-together, this establishment is known for its great service and light bites that will leave you planning your next visit before you’ve even left.

Always Check Google Maps For Hours
While dining in Poipu, it’s essential to arm yourself with the invaluable tool that is Google Maps. This handy app can guide you through the restaurant landscape, allowing you to explore options, check reviews, and view menus in advance. Checking opening hours and making reservations can save you from disappointment and ensure you have a short wait and a smooth dining experience. Remember to keep an open mind and embrace the hidden gems that might not always be at the top of search results.
Patience in the Face of Staffing Shortages
In recent times, the hospitality industry, including restaurants, has been facing staffing shortages. Poipu is no exception. As you venture out to savor the local flavors, it’s crucial to approach your dining experience with patience and understanding. Acknowledge that establishments may be operating with limited staff, which can lead to longer wait times or minor service hiccups. Remember, a positive attitude goes a long way in creating a pleasant atmosphere for both guests and hardworking restaurant teams.
Please Show Respect For Workers
Respecting the local culture, traditions, and establishments is paramount when visiting Poipu. Embrace the Aloha spirit by displaying kindness, gratitude, and consideration towards the restaurant staff, fellow diners, and the community. By immersing yourself in the local culture and showing respect, you not only enhance your dining experience but also contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Poipu’s hospitality scene. Now that you have some information about the best restaurants in Poipu, the only question is which will you try first?
